Did someone just mention self-control?

"To overcome an addiction or rather a certain habit is different for every person,but for me it is a matter of having a strong will and gritting your teeth and putting forth self control. Overcome the pain and know that the pain will pass when you are no longer addicted. Take it day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment."
but why bring a habit to an end of its something you enjoy or strongly addicted to?.-.. well that means, its no longer of value and its affecting you in one way or another and the only solution is to call it quits.
Are our personalities shaped into with present realities? do i live each day trying to get the "new me" or i live to be who the person i am proud of? what about those things that appear each day of my life and are becoming sort of boring?…….
